About Adam Nigh

Adam is a current saxophonist, flutist, clarinetist, pianist, and music educator who performs and teaches a variety of styles including jazz, classical, r&b, and pop. He is an active freelance musician and teacher working in the Chicago-land area and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in jazz studies at DePaul University.

Adam grew up in Geneva, Illinois and began playing the piano at the age of 7 and saxophone at the age of 10, studying with the highly regarded music educators in the Chicago suburbs, David Kellen and Michael Bazan. Under their tutelage, Adam garnered a love for learning and performing many styles of music.

Adam received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he studied jazz saxophone performance, and is currently studying with saxophonist Scott Burns and flutist Alyce Johnson at DePaul University.

He credits his high school band teacher, Patrick Frederick, for instilling a love for teaching young musicians and providing students with the tools to succeed at anything they put their mind to.
