James Weigel

Anthony Sobun

Anthony Sobun grew up listening to a lot of Motown, Stax, and James Brown; so it was a natural transition for him to switch from harmonica to electric and upright bass as a teen. In high school he studied jazz, orchestral music, and R&B under the direction of Frank Menzies and continued his education at Northeastern Illinois University. Since then, he has had the good fortune to perform at the Taste of Chicago, All Souls Jazz Festival, FOX’s Good Day Chicago, WGN Morning News, The House of Blues, Chicago Symphony Center, and countless other bandstands and studios all over the Midwest. When not teaching, performing, or practicing, he is most likely spending time outside with his dog, Roscoe.
