ABOUT TOM: Tom holds degrees in Vocal Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University and Music Education from Northeastern Illinois University. He has substantial experience teaching private lessons throughout the Chicagoland area in voice, guitar, piano, and woodwinds. He also performs throughout the Chicagoland area as a soloist and in the 90’s rock cover band, Minus Montgomery.

ABOUT CATHIE: Cathie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Arizona State University and a Master of Music (performance major) from Northern Arizona University. Although she is classically trained, she loves all musical styles and genres. Cathie believes in giving young string players a strong technical foundation, while at the same time instilling understanding and enjoyment of music from the very beginning. Like her role model, Dorothy DeLay of the Julliard School, Cathie believes that young musicians learn best when they are having fun.

ABOUT ALEX: Alex has been actively teaching for 10 years and received an M.M. in Trombone Performance from Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University in 2016. He loves playing and teaching many different genres of music and has a lot of experience with live performance. Alex can teach brass students aged “8 to 108” from beginners to individuals at an advanced level.

ABOUT ERIC: Eric is a pianist/keyboard player and teacher whose musical journey has taken him around the world and exposed him to countless musical styles. He began studying classical piano at the age of five and then began to explore jazz in high school, leading him to study jazz piano performance at Columbia College Chicago. Since then he’s played jazz in Guatemala and the U.K., toured the country with a hip-hop and R&B group, and played “Don’t Stop Believing” at countless weddings. “Music has given me so much and I’m so happy that I’m able to share my knowledge and passion with my students at Flatts and Sharpe!”
