Introducing Songwriting 101! This course is going to be hosted by our voice, piano and songwriting teacher, Lizzi! She is Flatts & Sharpe is going to be offering a new course! Introducing Songwriting 101! This course is going to be hosted by our voice, piano and songwriting teacher, Lizzi! She is so excited to bring this class to Flatts & Sharpe and to guide you on your thoughts, ideas and capabilities! If you’ve ever been interested in learning more about how to put songs together, or maybe even to get some more help on a song you’re already writing but might feel stuck finishing, this course is for you! In this 8-week course held through Zoom, you will learn different methods of writing a song from scratch, create songs that are musically and lyrically authentic to each individual, and by the end of the course each student will create at least 2 songs by the end of the course! Looking for something over the summer to keep motivated or to better understand your music? Is your student having a hard Flatts & Sharpe is introducing it’s summer music theory courses! Looking for something over the summer to keep motivated or to better understand your music? Is your student having a hard time reading their notes or figuring out their music? This course is designed to benefit younger beginning music students who want an introduction into music theory! Music theory is the set of rules through which music is created. Everything from J.S. Bach’s “Cello Suites” to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Encanto” uses music theory! Music theory strengthens a student’s ability to read and understand written music. The better you understand how music works, the quicker you can learn it, memorize it, and one day, compose it! Music theory is the study of pitch, rhythm, chords and harmony – music’s foundational concepts. Introduction to Music Theory will focus mainly on the first two most important parts of music; pitch and rhythm. This course will set your student on their way to understanding music in a deeper way, as well as obtaining a stronger ability to perform written music. Instructor: Jimmy Farace

This class is usually recommended from teachers whose students might need a little extra help. This course is designed to benefit beginner and intermediate music students who wish to dive deeper in the exciting world of music theory. Music theory is the set of rules through which music is created. Everything from J.S. Bach’s “Cello Suites” to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Encanto” uses music theory! This course is designed to benefit intermediate to advanced music students who wish to further their understanding of music theory and music composition. Music theory is the set of rules through which music is created. Everything from J.S. Bach’s “Cello Suites” to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Encanto” uses music theory!
